Exhibitions

In 2009 the Jelling Project and the National Museum entered into a partnership with the British Museum in London and the Museum of Prehistory and Early History in Berlin. The aim of this was to create a large travelling international exhibition about the Vikings and the background of the great expansion and development associated with the Viking Age.

In addition, in 2009 the National Museum’s special exhibition at Royal Jelling refers to the Viking Age. However, the theme is the two rune stones at Jelling and their condition, continuing the intense debate that began in the autumn of 2008. The rune stones are very much at risk, but it is still undecided as to which solution will be chosen to protect them.
